Mackintosh and Glasgow Style

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was the United Kingdom's premiere exponent of the International Style popularly known as Art Nouveau. Employing a geometricity somewhat uncharacteristic of Art Nouveau, he was well and truly ahead of his time, and much of his artwork foreshadows Art Deco in an uncanny way.

I had the privilege to tour the Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Museum. Then I took the following photographs at the Kelvingrove Museum near the University of Glasgow. The images feature works by Mackintosh and other contemporary Glasgow Style artists.
