Morpho Refractive Scale Structure Produces Blue Light
Click on the image above to view a video which explains how the refractive structures of Morpho wings gather and reflect blue light!
The video was produced at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab in conjunction with the Lawrence Hall of Science.
A Canadian nanotech company has created a substrate which mimics exclusive refraction in a similar way to Morpho wing scales. NanoTech Security Corp. intends to manufacture the film as a replacement for current anti-counterfeiting technology - the holograms, metallic elements, and watermarks currently used in currency, credit cards, and other commercial items. See below for a video which explains the beautiful new technology.
