Goodbye Maricel Palm

The top broke off the Maricel Palm. It was planted in 1906, which makes it 110 years old. Apparently palms have a life span of 100 years, so this means it lived a long healthy life.

A multitude of birds' nests may have been the culprit by weighing it down. 

The following blurry photo was taken of a Catalan lady's phone screen. It shows the top of the palm after it landed on two motor bikes.  

They will plant a new palm tree in its place in July. 

RIP Marcicel Palm you will be missed. We are sad to see you go!
