Classical Temple Atop Chatsworth
Chatsworth is an important English manor in Derbyshire. There is an impressive classical temple on top of its northernmost wing. It is stated that this is a theatre, but to me it appears to be a temple to the Four Winds.
It never ceases to amaze me how many large buildings throughout the world have what seem to be pagan, classical temples on their highest level, which are generally dismissed as mere decoration, but which could obviously serve as actual temples for ceremonies or rituals. I intend to investigate this phenomenon in the future, and hope to be able report my findings here.
