With Cherry Blossoms adytum, I wanted to create the effect of opening a door to an adytum, or Sanctum Sanctorum, or Holy of Holies, to find a living, growing cherry blossom branch as the deity contained within. The lighter value in the center of the background composition is intended to replicate the effect of light pouring in through the open door.
